This past year I started promoting my art at conventions in the midwest, mainly here in Indianapolis, and one in Michigan. By doing this, I have gained a healthy amount of exposure. People now recognize my art when they walk by and it is such a heart warming experience to be able to share and talk about my work.
Many exciting things have happened. I got into Gen Con for my first year and I was scouted by Paizo Publishing to do work on an unnounced title.
I have continued to go to conventions to promote and sell my work in 2015, but conventions have strict deadlines on payment arrangements.
I was accepted into Gen Con (Indianapolis) and C2E2 (Chicago). Both have pricey table costs and have deadlines in early January to pay off. Indiana Comic Con is before BOTH of the conventions and I really want to attend as it was my highest grossing con last year.
80% of all of the convention money earned is going to pay off my husband and my student loans as we have a goal to start a family and want to be in a good position.
Because I work in Academia I am off 14 weeks out of the year with no pay and this really cuts into some of my funding around this time to pay for conventions in the first half of the year.
So here is what I need help with. Gencon has a $200 table price tag and is one of the cheaper tables of the year. I need help funding this table cost. With the convention in March, I need to purchase ASAP. I know this is a bad time of year to be requesting such help, but every little bit counts. Even if you can't donate, please spread the word to those who may be able.
